Approximately 600 people attended the two-day forum. They included business people, government officials, academics and university students.
The distinguished guest of honour and keynote speaker on day one of the forum was His Excellency Vu Khoan, Former Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Special Envoy to the Prime Minister for External Affairs, who delivered the keynote speech on the theme of the 8th HYLI, "Empowering Asia - an Increased Role and a Common Voice as a Responsible Player -". On the second day, Senator Pia Cayetano of the Philippines took over as keynote speaker, sharing her considerable experience and knowledge with the participants and audience. The young leaders actively exchanged views with these distinguished leaders. In the question & answer sessions, lively discussions were held between the speakers, young leaders and even the audience.
